set of samples is available for purchase at the time of
registration. The cost of the set of samples is $225/set, rebatable
against an auction lot purchase. Samples will be sent to registered bidders on April 26th, 2009.
- Cut-off dates for sending samples: May 4th Europe and Asia, May 11th USA/Canada
- bidding on all lots will start at $5.00 per pound
- extended bidding time will be 2 minutes

Batch:
A batch referes to coffee that has been harvested on the same date and
processed together.
Auction Lot: The coffee within each Batch is
divided into 300 pound Auction Lots

varies from 1400 meters to 1800 meters.

1. Reserva de la Señora
Region: Cañas Verdes
Altitude: 1,700-1,800M
A
balanced and sweet cup, notes of jasmine, mandarin oranges, chocolate,
blackberry jam and rose tea. This is one of our newest producing areas,
in the Cañas Verdes region, adjacent to the Baru Volcano
National Park. This is our highest producing Esmeralda Special.
2. Caballeriza (Kah-ba-yeh-ree-sah)
Region: Jaramillo
Altitude: 1,500M
Wild
strawberries, intense licorice, blueberries and red currant in the cup,
this is an intensely aromatic coffee, coming from one of the new
production areas in Jaramillo.
-Los Mario: Carnaval, San José and Pascua
Region: Jaramillo
Altitude: 1,500-1,650M
Our
traditional, award winning Esmeralda Special comes from the area known
as Mario. This year, north and south of the creek are not seperated,
and the coffee is grouped by harvest dates.
3. Mario Carnaval
Harvested during the month of February, Panama carnival month in
2009. Sweet florals, blueberry, grapefruit and maracuyá.

4. Mario San José
Harvested during the month of March. San José is the best-known
patron Saint of the province, and his day is March 19th.
Brilliant and sweet acidity, red berries and molasses.

5. Mario Pascua
Harvested during the month of April, Easter month in 2009. Mandarin
oranges, jasmine and sugar cane are some of the late harvest cupping
notes.
6. Naranjo
Region: Jaramillo
Altitude: 1,450M
Cranberries
and oranges with strong notes of vanilla and creamy caramel in a
well-rounded, balanced and bright clean cup. This coffee comes from one
of the new producing regions in Jaramillo.

7. Colgá
Region: Cañas Verdes
Altitude: 1,400M
Overlooking
a lush valley, the coffee from Colgá is part of our new
production in Cañas Verdes. Cocoa and nutmeg, with complex
floral notes produce an enticing and aromatic cup.
