The Esmeralda Special Auction is an online coffee auction held by Hacienda La Esmeralda where the best Geisha lots are available for bidding.

What is the Esmeralda Special Auction Grand Reserve?

The Auction Grand Reserve is a small collection of Hacienda La Esmeralda’s highest performing Geishas micro-lots grown above 1,600 masl with cupping scores of over 90 pts.

How often is this auction held?

The Esmeralda Special Auction is held once a year, usually in May or June. The upcoming auction will be held on June 14th, 2016.

When and where will the auction be held?

The Esmeralda Special Auction is held online through coffee auction platforms. The upcoming auction will be held on June 14th, 2016 through the Stoneworks Auction platform (auction.stoneworks.com)

What is the minimum purchase?

The minimum purchase in the Esmeralda Special Auction is one auction lot (300 pounds of green coffee).

At how much money does the bidding start?

Bidding in the Esmeralda Special Auction starts at $25.00 per pound.

How much coffee is one auction lot?

One auction lot is 300 pounds of coffee which is equal to 6 boxes (50 pounds per box) of green coffee.

What does Enero, Carnaval, San José and Pascua mean?

Enero, Carnaval, San José and Pascua are words used to identify the harvest month of each auction coffee.

Enero: Coffee harvested in January.
Carnaval: Coffee harvested in February.
San José: Coffee harvested in March.
Pascua: Coffee harvested in April.

What altitude do auction coffees have?

How is washed coffee processed?

Washed coffee has its pulp and mucilage mechanically removed before drying on the patio for 3 to 5 days, depending on the weather. To view a detailed description of each coffee, read the full list of 2016 auction coffees here.

How is natural coffee processed?

Natural Processed coffee is dried with its pulp and mucilage on for 3 days on the patio and then for 80 hours in the mechanical dryer. To view a detailed description of each coffee, find the full list of 2016 auction coffees here.

How is coffee packaged?

Auction coffees are packaged in carton boxes with vacuum pack.

Where can I register for the auction?

Registration for the 2016 Esmeralda Special Auction can be made at: auction.stoneworks.com/ES2016

When do I have to register for the auction?

In order to receive samples on time, we advise you sign to up at least one month prior to the auction date.

How can I receive auction samples?

Auction samples are available for purchase at the time of registration. The cost of a set of samples is $250, to be rebated against an auction lot purchase.

How much coffee is one auction sample set?

An auction sample set is made up of one sample of each auction lot. Each sample is 200 grams of green coffee.

When will my auction samples be shipped?

Samples are sent to registered bidders 3-4 weeks before the established auction date.

Are auction samples shipped to all countries?

Auction samples are shipped to all countries except for China. If you are coffee buyer from China, you need to provide an alternate address to receive coffee samples.

How can I pay for my auction samples?

The cost of samples is $250/set and is paid via credit card when you register. This cost is reimbursed with the purchase of an an auction lot purchase.

Shipping

How will my auction coffee be shipped?

Many auction lot winners choose to air freight their lots through a freight consolidator. The freight consolidator will quote delivery prices door to door, or door to airport, depending on the buyer’s choice. This is a very efficient method, since the auction lots arrive more quickly than by boat.

We are also willing to consolidate in Panama and ship through an importer in a container destined to the buyer’s part of the world.

What are the shipping terms?

Shipping prices are Ex Works Hacienda La Esmeralda Warehouse in Palmira, Republic of Panama.

Do you ship coffee to all countries?

Yes, we ship auction coffee to all countries.

How much time after the auction will I receive my coffee?

The delivery time will depend on the buyer’s address and preferred method of shipping.

Payment

What are the payment terms for auction coffees?

Payment for auction coffees is due in full to Hacienda La Esmeralda 15 days after the auction date. Payment can be made by wire transfer to our bank account. Unless the coffee is shipped through an importer, and the importer decides to finance the buyer, the coffee must be paid for before it leaves Panama.
